Day 3

BRENDAN MCLEOD

I woke up at a window where the street outside had stopped
The quiet wind, no one in the empty restaurants
I walked to get my groceries, made sure to keep my space
Bought myself the basics and I went back to my place
When silence is wisdom and loneliness is grace
I bow down in wonder of the world

When bus drivers and grocers and delivery boys can’t break
When hospitals must work and the rest of us must wait
When safety is in numbers and numbers are not safe
The best that I can give you are the gifts that I don’t take
When nothing ever changes, then nothing is the same
To cherish someone’s presence is to never see their face
And to love without restraint is to love with all restraint
We must bow down to the wonder of the world
